Artikal Sound System

(Roots, Rock, Reggae)

After years of performing independently with completely different backgrounds in music, the members of ARTIKaL Sound System joined together to create a group with a fresh sound inspired by the South Florida Reggae scene. In September of 2012, they debuted their self-titled EP which blends together Reggae with Hip-Hop, Dancehall, and R&B. Their six-track EP includes a Jimi Hendrix dub and is available for free download. To kick off their EP release, ARTIKaL launched a United States East Coast tour, and performed internationally in Peru.

ARTIKaL has collaborated with some of the most influential musicians and artists in the Reggae scene, including RedLyte, The Abbysinians, Apple Gabriel of Israel Vibration, and two decedents of Bob Marley himself – Alex Marley and Biggz General. The band has had the honor to share the stage with Pepper, Dirty Heads, Steel Pulse, Yellowman, Less Than Jake, The Aggrolites, and Jesse Royal.

ARTIKaL released Inversions in April 2015, which peaked at #2 on the Reggae Billboard chart. Inversions is a mixture of roots, rock, and reggae and features Chris Montague and Chris Cope on lead vocals, with special appearances from Menny More of Easy Star All Stars and Cadet-Yo of Deadbeat Writers Lab.
